“Teaching YOU Thursday” on Saturday
So, I may have jumped the gun on debuting my “Teaching YOU Thursday” series. I really should have waited until the kids went back to school which is in just 10 short days. We still have many appointments and last minute getting ready for school things to do. So my next Teaching YOU Thursday will be on August 29th so I can have more time to prepare and be sure I can get a tutorial up for you! Thanks for understanding!
This week I decided to get out the new Build a Banner Simply Created kit (133507) we have in our Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog. I knew I wanted to create a banner for my studio welcoming my stamping friends back after a few months off from classes. I also knew with school starting just around the corner, this could also be used for a school classroom welcoming students! Watch out teachers! These are addicting!
I really enjoyed creating a banner with this kit. You won’t believe what all comes in the kit!
You will get 26 alphabet image stencils, 18 pennants (6 each of the 3 designs), 3 background stencil images (stripes, polka dots, chevron), 1 mask background image, 9 ft of Natural Jute Twine and a Stampin’ Spritzer! While I went though this kit I couldn’t believe what all came in the kit. You can also get a refill kit , Banner Simply Created Kit (132699), which includes 18 pennants and 9ft of Jute Twine to create more banners without purchasing the whole kit again.
Here is what I created using part of my kit:
I didn’t use the Stampin’ Spritzer (126185) when creating my banner, instead I used one of the Sponge Daubers (102892) along with our Classic Stampin’ Ink Pads instead. The colors I used are Real Red (126949), Old Olive (126953), Daffodil Delight (126944) and Early Espresso (126974). You will see how it I did the stenciling with the daubers in the below video.
I also love layers and I needed to have my banner have a little layering. So instead of adding the letters right on to the banner I used Crumb Cake card stock (120953) and cut out the circles using the Big Shot Machine (113439) and the Circles Collection Framelits Die (130911). Under the circles I layered a piece of our 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon and our 5/8″ Victoria Crochet Trim (118481), I used our Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive (110755) to adhere the ribbon to the pennants.
In between the pennants, I took a piece of our 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon (132140), folded it in half and adhered it to the Jute Twine using a safety pin from the Vintage Trinkets (118764). I am really loving our Burlap Ribbon!! Yum!
So watch this video to see how I created the banner using the Simply Created Build a Banner kit and see the products up close!
I hope you enjoyed seeing this kit in action! I can’t wait to share more banners with you…they are addicting! Be sure to check out the Halloween Banner Simply Created Accessory Kit (132698) and the Christmas Banner Simply Created Accessory Kit (132697) to make your banners even easier to create! Here are two videos created by Stampin’ Up! on how these Accessory Kits are used!
